Art for the Heart is an art therapy program for cancer patients and loved ones.

Explore your creativity. Local artists will offer instruction and assistance in painting, knitting and decorating for the Breast Cancer Walk on May 9.

Inspirational Weekend in Pleasanton – March 21 & 22 by Suzanne Ross

Hi friends!

 I am so excited to announce a spectacular weekend event coming to Pleasanton this spring! I will be hosting this event along with best-selling author, Barbara Wilder.

 The event is being held at the Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building on March 21 & 22 – Saturday: 8:30-5:30 & Sunday 9:30-4:30. It will feature many inspirational authors, motivational speakers and wellness professionals from all over the Bay Area. The event will be very interactive with workshops, round tables, music & dancing, group meditation & breathing practices, team-bonding activities and plenty of organic, healthy food from New Leaf in Pleasanton. The authors will be doing book signings and on-the-spot interviews. I will appear on Conversations with Robin and Shaun on TV30 (March 2 @ 10 a.m.) to discuss the details of this event. The publications, Natural Awakenings, Pleasanton Weekly and The Independent will feature an article or press release about the event.

PLEASANTON, CA, December 18, 2014—The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation (SJWHTF), a non-profit organization that provides funds for complementary therapies to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment, announced today it will conduct a free seminar for the community. The “Lymphedema: Treatment and Prevention” seminar will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Alain Pinel Realtors, 900 Main Street, Suite 101, Pleasanton. Ida Hirst, PT, will conduct the session, sharing her extensive experience in treating the combined problems that are often present after surgeries or other needed medical interventions. Ida has been practicing as a Physical Therapist, and established a private practice, Physical Therapy Specialties, in Pleasanton, CA in 1989. Ida does not limit her practice to the treatment of Lymphedema, but has found it to be an important component of her practice.

Ida will focus on the techniques used to treat and prevent Lymphedema and improve the patient’s overall quality of life.  Questions will be accepted through January 23, 2015.

PLEASANTON, CA, November 14, 2014—The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation (SJWHTF), a non-profit organization that provides funds for complementary therapies to local cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment, has reached a significant milestone in providing over 500 grants to those in need.

The foundation has been issuing funds for 5 years (since July 1, 2009) and continues its commitment to helping cancer patients.

SJWHTF is able to provide the support it does because of its unflappable and tireless volunteers and generous supporters.

The Board of Directors of the Sandra J. Wing Therapies Foundation announces that the organization has been approved as a certified United Way Charity.   “Anyone giving to United Way can direct their funds to the Wing Foundation and they will be able to put their dollars to good use” according to Boardmember Nelson Fialho.

Many companies work with United Way annually to allow their employees to donate through payroll deductions or one-time donations.   If you are employed by a company that participates in a United Way giving campaign, you can designate the Foundation to receive your funds.  As you approach the beginning of the calendar year, please consider selecting the Sandra J. Wing Therapies Foundation to receive your payroll deductions.

PLEASANTON, CA, October 1, 2014—The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation (SJWHTF), a non-profit organization that provides funds for complementary therapies to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment, announced today it will conduct a free seminar for the community. The “Everything You Wanted to Know About Nutrition Before, During, and After a Cancer Diagnosis, But Were Afraid to Ask” seminar will be held on Saturday, October 25 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Alain Pinel Realtors, 900 Main Street, Suite 101, Pleasanton. Anne Moselle, Registered Dietitian and Oncology Nutrition Consultant, will conduct the session, sharing her extensive experience working in health care and treating various medical conditions through nutrition, including oncology patients. Moselle helped develop and run the cancer survivorship program at LifeStyleRX in Livermore, and is currently an oncology nutrition consultant working with clinics around Northern California with the mission of elevating the role of nutrition in cancer cure.

Anne will focus on how proper nutrition can prevent cancer, aid in treatment and extend survivorship. She will share the latest information on how to enhance diet for optimal health. If you have a particular question you’d like her to address, you may submit it at registration, or by emailing Anne at anniem228@yahoo.com. Questions will be accepted until October 17.
