Hope Hospice

This year, nearly 40 percent of adults in the U.S. will find themselves in the role of caring for an elderly or chronically ill loved one. Most of us are unprepared for what has become known as the universal occupation.
To help caregivers, we have created a series of classes to provide education, resources and support.  Here’s  the  schedule of classes  Family Caregiver Education Series .

If you are a family caregiver, we hope you will have an opportunity to attend one, or all of these sessions. Feel free to share this information with your family and friends.

Cancer is not a disease that is easily dealt with, treated or even understood. While treatments can vary for every diagnosis, they often include chemotherapy and radiation, both of which are downright uncomfortable, usually with very painful side effects.  Increasingly, complementary healing therapies including massage, acupuncture, deep breathing meditation and guided visual imagery are gaining acceptance as proven methods for helping patients find comfort and stay strong to fight the fight during their chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  These healing therapies can provide relief for neuropathy, anxiety, stress, aches, fatigue, nausea and pain.

Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation  presents Free Seminar

Mindfulness for Healing; an Interactive Community Event

PLEASANTON, CA, June 22, 2015—The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation (SJWHTF), a non-profit organization that provides funds for complementary therapies to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment, announced today it will conduct a free seminar for the community. The “Mindfulness for Healing” seminar will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Alain Pinel Realtors, 900 Main Street, Suite 101, Pleasanton.

Kathy Lorenz, from the Healing Journey, is a specialist in treating cancer patients. She combines her practice of acupressure massage with guided healing imagery. Using guided imagery, Kathy is able to help her clients ease their pain and she teaches them techniques for using imagery on their own when they need relief. Short exercises during this 2 hour seminar will teach participants how to focus internally and pay attention to feelings in the present moment. “Mindfulness increases your capacity to observe what is going on in your body, “ notes Kathy. “With a guided internal body scan, you can bring the messages from your body into consciousness and work with them to heal in a powerful way.”

The public is invited to attend this free event, but reservations are required.

REGISTRATION CHECK IN: 9:45 am

Event starts promptly at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 p.m.

LOCATION: Alain Pinel Realtors, 900 Main St, Suite 101, Pleasanton
